Foundry Tech + Expo 2026 exceeds expectations draws, 6,926 visitors at debut edition

28 Sep 2026

Tokyo, 28 September 2026. Japan’s foundry sector put productivity and decarbonisation in focus at the inaugural Foundry Tech + Expo 2026, which attracted 6,926 visitors from 9 – 11 September 2026. Held in South Hall four at Tokyo Big Sight, the country’s first dedicated trade fair for foundry products and services hosted 120 exhibitors from six countries and regions, including 109 domestic companies and 11 from overseas, with many fairgoers welcoming the business opportunities presented at the specialised platform.

Hosted by the Japan Foundry Society, Inc., with Messe Frankfurt Japan Ltd serving as the show management office, the fair ran alongside Thermotec 2026, connecting the foundry and industrial furnace sectors. Labour shortages and the shift towards lower-carbon manufacturing shaped discussions across the show floor. Exhibitors presented digital tools and equipment to reduce manual workloads and improve production efficiency.

Mr Takeshi Asai, Chairman of the Japan Foundry Society, Inc., commented: “Attendance exceeded our expectations, and exhibitors reported productive discussions. Foundries underpin Japan’s automotive, railway and wider manufacturing industries, yet their contribution often goes unrecognised because they produce components rather than finished products. This trade fair brings businesses, industry bodies and researchers together to share expertise and develop partnerships that address common challenges, from productivity to workforce shortages.”

To enhance the business at the booths and across the show floor, the fringe programme explored developments in construction machinery, commercial vehicles and agricultural machinery, alongside 3D simulation, CO₂ reduction and sustainable supply chains. A further 13 exhibitor presentations highlighted technical advances and equipment that addresses workforce shortages.

Exhibiotor comments
“Foundry Tech + Expo’s specialist focus enabled us to connect with companies in the casting industry from both China and Japan, raising our profile and creating opportunities for future business. We have already received requests for quotations. Differences in production processes also offer scope for cooperation, allowing businesses in both countries to build on each other’s strengths.”
Mr Yanbin Wang, Panjin Tiangong Precision Casting Co., Ltd., China

“At the fair, we reconnected with existing customers and reached potential clients beyond our established cast iron market, including those working with copper and other non-ferrous metals. This broadened awareness of our company and opened up new opportunities for business expansion. Since the exhibition, many of these contacts have progressed to quotation requests, individual meetings and online discussions, giving us tangible opportunities to pursue.”
Mr Masatoshi Tanaka, Manager, Ehime Sales Office, Daisensangyo Co., LTD., Japan
